Lord Mayor visit to our allotment
On Wednesday May 12th an excited group of 6th form students gathered at our allotment in Court Lane to await the arrival of the Lord Mayor and his wife, who were coming to officially open the Schools Area at the site.
When he arrived he shook hands with all the students and asked them about our plot. He was keen to see how it had been transformed from a weed-covered bed to one full of healthy growing fruit and vegetables – onions, garlic, peas, strawberries, potatoes, carrots, and lettuce.
The stars of the plot are undoubtedly the onions, whilst the stars of this enterprise are without doubt all the students who have taken it in turns to work on the allotment, come rain or shine, since last September and who are now seeing the fruits (and vegetables!) of their labours!
