Gatsby Benchmarks at Wilson Stuart

Our school is always looking for employers or employees that will talk to our students about what they do and their career journey. This can be small groups, classes or assemblies. We are also happy to bring students to your workplace if that is easier. Please complete the form and we’ll get back you.

Meet The Team

Jo Bowen –  Careers Lead

My name is Jo Bowen and I am Wilson Stuart‘s Head of sixth form. I am passionate about students’ learning through different experiences to support preparation for adulthood.

Across Wilson Stuart , I am responsible for leading Sixth form, Careers lead across the school and responsible for Travel training. I also teach Art, PSHE, and Preparation for adulthood through community participation and preparing for adulthood days.

Careers and transitions are priorities within Wilson Stuart. Key events and learning opportunities are embedded throughout teaching and learning to strive towards the Gatsby benchmarks to provide students and support to families with knowledge and skills to make more informed decisions about next steps.

Jackie Hopkins – Careers Advisor

As a Careers Adviser working across the Education Impact Academy schools, I get to work with the young people and staff at Wilson Stuart School. I work with the young people on a one to one basis and in groups, support staff with delivering the careers programme across secondary and sixth form, and supporting parents with transitions and information on provisions.

Emma Pinnock – Enterprise Advisor Support

Supporting Wilson Stuart as an enterprise adviser is a real privilege. I have a real passion to support pupils with additional needs to have as many opportunities as possible and this is a small way for me to support that mission.

Claire Donnelly -Birmingham Careers Hub

I work as an Enterprise Coordinator with Birmingham Careers Hub and The Careers and Enterprise Company to support schools with their careers programme and help make connections between schools and businesses. Having qualified as a teacher 25 years ago, I have worked in a number of primary schools in Birmingham, Solihull and London, a secondary school in Coventry, and a Further Education college. I also enjoyed working for 8-years in recruitment as a Recruitment Consultant and Business Development Manager.

As a parent of a young person with SEND, I recognise the importance of preparing all young people for their best ‘next step’.

Employers across the city are keen to support careers activities in and out of school to help develop employability and life skills, and to inspire and prepare all our young people for their future.
